LGBTQ+ History Month - February
LGBTQ+ History Month is nationally celebrated and its aim is to raise the profile of the LGBTQ+ Community whilst also trying to connect the generations together and create a closer more aware community. This is important because as LGTBQ+ people we don't have the same generational connection or awareness as heterosexual people, so often history can easily be lost.
In the past Sussex LGBTQ+ Society has won awards for its History Month undertakings, such as in 2016 when we had over 20 events in 25 days and organised a massive LGBTQ+ Faith Panel.
Every year the Society makes History Month the centre of its calendar, so keep an eye out for possible plans and feel free to put ideas to the committee any time.
Another point is expectation management; the Society is completely student run and the Committee put in loads of time to make things happen. During busy times such as History Month we struggle to keep on top of everything, so bare that in mind as you make suggestions.
